The Pompton Lakes Environmental Protection Committee (EPC) serves as an advisory
group to the Mayor and Council on Environmental issues, laws and programs. The
Committee provides necessary information for the protection, preservation, and
enhancement of Pompton Lakes natural resources, its recreation and conservation
programs, and its wildlife.

Our Mission
 |
Promote short and long range
environmental planning for the preservation of wildlife habitats, protection of
wetlands, and enhancement of outdoor recreation and conservation activities;

Assist the Open
Space/Recreation Advisory Council regarding the long term use of open space and
parklands in Pompton Lakes;
|
 |
Review development site
plans to assess the environmental impact on the local residents; |
 |
Communicate with
neighboring towns, county, and state environmental commissions on local
watershed management and air quality issues; |
 |
Participate in
environmental education projects with the local schools; |
 |
Coordinate communitywide
environmental projects, such as River Cleanup Day, Litter Awareness Day, Smart
Growth workshops, and other environmental education projects; |
 |
Review and comment on flood control mitigation projects, and Develop a
database of environmental and natural resources |
